Breaking Down
the Toon:
I am an American
Olympic Viewer, I cheer for the American teams in all the games (even the
ones I don't care much about) and I like watching the "X-Games" crossover
sports (snowboarding, the Aerial Skiing Events, etc).
I like watching the
commercials, I like seeing the shirts and uniform stuffs that will be
available shortly in one form or another, that I will be able to buy at
the American staple of economic goodness, WALMART. I like
spending my American-made dollars at American stores when shopping.
I like wearing my red-white-and-blue tie with one of my favorite outfits
that I get great compliments on.
I enjoy hearing
commentary about American Politics, (again, even the ones I don't care
much about) because I know that I live in America: A place where we
can talk about things like the governmental politics.
I don't like it when
people tell me what I will think about. I don't like it when I'm
told that you "should" be _________, and I'm not, because I "don't care
much about it."
But guess what:
I'm American.
Let me wave a flag,
let me "like" to watch the stories of athletes that win GOLD while
competing for America and puh-leese stop telling me that Olympic Athletes
are "not as good as the professional athletes".
If PATRIOTISM is one
of the things remembered most during this most recent Winter Olympics,
what's wrong with that?
It's that or remember
things like "4 gold medals in pairs figureskating", bitching, whining
"Russian Judges lamenting some of the most inane crap in Olympic
History," or the total loss of focus on the one thing that makes the
sport what it is: Sportsmanship.
